Just a thought... what do y'all think?
I enjoy the Last 10 Forum Messages to see what everyone's been talking about recently. Whether it's informative, questions, or just funny replied comments. To me at least, it would be nice to see more of the most recent posts from all forums the way it is now in one convenient location. The Last 10 Forum Messages seem to scroll by within about 10 seconds so if it was increased to say 20 messages it still wouldn't be that long to start over. Not sure how big a PIA it would be to change it but what do y'all think?

    Just a thought...

I think it would be a good idea if it is possible and not too much of a PIA

    I agree!

Also of interest is why a forum shows as read when, after reading a few posts on one computer, I go to another computer. I seem to be missing a fair number of posts. I'm not sure if it is a site bug, or if it is my PCs/browsing style.

Left sidebar. Member Options. "My Account", then "My Homepage Settings". Select the number of headlines you wish to scroll, from 4 to 20. Click. Wipe hands on pants.

To see all the changed message threads since your last logon, click "forums" under the community header on the left sidebar, then "view posts since last visit" in the upper right.

If you're simply looking for a one-click way to do this, yes, it would be nice; but I'm thinking it would require a software rewrite, and I also think I can manage to force myself to use a whopping TWO mouseclicks instead of just one.

What I am referring to is that when I visit the forums I see threads that show as unread. If I read a few of those threads and switch to another PC the treads I haven't read yet no longer show as unread. Causing me to 'miss' some threads. This is while logged in on both PCs.

    I second the motion!

I could handle another 5 Topics before the re-run.
    Good idea.

Somebody's always thinking, here, in XJ-Bikes.
    That's the good part.

Thanks schmuckaholic. Hands are clean, (pants aren't) and I'm looking forward to my 20 headlines.

Interesting... I get the same result. Apparently, not only can I not read, I don't even know what I'm talking about.

    [grumble]

    schmuckaholic. *ROFL*
I tried it also and it didn't do anything, but thought maybe it was me. I've had a head cold and didn't feel like thinking about it or complaining.
So increase to 15 or 20 "Last Forum Messages"?

All is not completely lost; I did a bit of experimenting, and managed to find a way to one-click the "New Forum Posts" page. I even tested it to make sure it worked first.

    1) Main Menu/My Account.
    2) Configuration/My Homepage Settings.
    3) Set "Activate Personal Homepage" to Yes.
    4) In the text box (looks just like the one you use to write forum posts), click the URL button and add this:

"http://www.xjbikes.com/Forums/search/search_id=newposts.html" (make sure you remove the quotes).

Label it however you see fit. Save.

Your customized menu will be located below the User Info block on the left sidebar.

    (See? I'm not completely useless.)

OK, Mr. useFUL, but we still only get 10 scrolling posts. Looks like that part might just be up to the webmaster? And it still doesn't explain the anomaly in regard to posts showing as having new entries or not; that one is probably a 'glitch' like the occasional missing horizontal scroll bar.

Yeah that was my original question. I was thinking 20 Last Forum Messages, instead?
I was hoping Sno would make a comment as to the possibility.
I'm more into hardware/networks than software writing/codes but I'm sure it wouldn't be that difficult. I just hate the "greater/less thans, if, ands, or's, excepts, etc..."
