I "rebuilt" the carbs on my '85 XJ700. I am a mechanic who works on vintage and performance cars. For some reason motorcycle carbs throw me for a loop. I replaced all the servicable items on my carbs (minus the vacuum diaphragms....THANKS XJ4EVER for help providing the parts. Does anybody know a reputable person or shop in the Indy area that would be willing to tune these carbs. I am sure I can figure out how to adjust them properly if I had this mythical thing they call extra time. But for now I would rather be riding than tinkering and my other endeavors are much more profitable. Thanks JR

Except for float levels and a basic bench sync, everything that needs to be done has to be done with them on the bike.

Vacuum sync is the most important step in said tuning; and it requires the participation of your motor.

They are on the bike. I thought that I had things "close" but it has a hard start and is only getting about 28 mpg hwy. I did check the valve adjustment (before rebuild) from a step by step I found on this forum. They were all dead on and I didn't have to change any shims. If I had an afternoon to spend on it I could probably figure it out...but that may be a month from now... and the weather is way too good to wait that long.
