No better place to go than here for this question.I want to install an L.E.D flashing light on my right handlebar But I want it to come on when I turn my key to the far left for it to come on.Right now if I do it my bars are locked and my tail light comes on(wich is normal) apparently an European thing.I want a flashing L.E.D intead of my tail light coming on.Im sure i can hook up the light but I have no idea where to look and what wire to tap into for the L.E.D and diconnect so the tail light doesnt come on?

that's going to be a problem. the same wire that powers the tail light in the park position powers it in the run position, if you cut it the tail light won't work at all.
what it would take is removing a contact inside the key switch and adding a extra switch for your LED

Polock's right; and to the best of my knowledge, nobody's yet figured out exactly how to remove the "P" function from the switch without ruining it.

    But we're working on it...

    can't you

1] run the tail light off the headlight, and not power the tail light from the ignition anymore

2] add a relay powered by the headlight-power (or instrument cluster lights), to switch the tail light circuit? If the headlight got power, the tail gets power because the relay closes the circuit. If in P-position, the tail WOULD get power, but doesn't, because the relay is off.

...my bike probably has mostly un-original wirings, so not sure if this would work for your bike.

2a] for extra fun, get a 5-pin relay, so your handlebar-checklight will light up when the tail light doesn't and the P-position is engaged :D

That'd be the smart way to do it. Install a relay in the tail light circuit that lights the LED but switches over to the tail light when the headlight comes on.

... or power the relay from ignition +12v.
The result will be the same. Just whatever "source power" for the relay is easier to reach.

I'd leave the Tail-light function in Park undisturbed.
When you are at the side of the road IN THE DARK, that Tail-light is a lifesaver.

Add the wiring for the LED and install a Relay and a "Push-on / Push-off" Switch to power the LED.

"But I want it to come on when I turn my key to the far left for it to come on.Right now if I do it my bars are locked and my tail light comes on(which is normal)"

something about that isn't normal, when the bars lock the tail light shouldn't be on.
all that's really needed is a switch to turn off the tail light and turn on the LED (spdt)
as long as your at it, it's a good idea to take the ignition switch apart and clean the contacts up

I am so far away from being an electrical god in anyway shape or form.Would it be possible to get a detailed guide to do this?

foks suggestion is better than using the headlight. With his solution the tail light will be on any time the key is turned on, not just when the bike is running. That will come in handy if you are ever dead on the side of the road.

    Referencing the attached diagram:

Cut the tail light wire (Blue/white stripe). The ignition switch side of the wire should be connected to terminal 30, the tail light side to terminal 87.

The (+) to your LED connects to terminal 87a.

    Terminal 85 connects to ground.

Terminal 86 connects to a switched positive. I suggest the lead going to the rear brake switch. I'm not sure of the color from the diagram, either violet or light brown, definitely the one that isn't yellow.

When the key is not on, terminal 30 is connected to terminal 87a. The electricity on terminal 30 goes to the LED. When the key is in (P) the LED will light, when the key is off there is no electricity to light anything.

When the key is on the relay is triggered, connecting terminal 30 to terminal 87. The power goes to the tail light instead of the LED.

Ya foks I do .I have left the Park light on my last bike I dont know how many times and theres nothing more embarrasing than goint out to you bike to go to work and needing a booster pack.Plus my last bike somone decided it looked better laying on its side intead of the center stand so thats why I wanted an LED so HOPEFULLY it acts like a detterent and people will leave it alone
