    How much medical payment coverage do you have? is $2500/mo adequate? When does such a thing pay out in the event one were to get into a crash (knock on wood)? Doesnt your health insurance cover those type of bills anyway? I have read/heard that medical payments will not cover anything health insurance covers - so whats the point? Is it a 'scam' of sorts?

    I want to know if I need this coverage if I already have health insurance through work. Thanks for your comments/opinions...

    It's probably different state to state.

    The way I understand it is that it will pay whatever the medical insurance doesn't. Like deductables or copays.

    So if your health insurance has a $5k deductable and you wreck your bike Jan 1 you'd be out of pocket $5k plus whatever it takes to fix the bike. With the medical insurance you'd get whatever benefit you've signed up for. How much you need is up to you.

    The way it works on my policy, the medical covers my dedudictible on my regular health insurance. So, my regular insurance deductible is 3k, so the medical ins on my bike pays THAT. So that I don't have to pay a deductible if I'm in a crash and get injured.

    It is different State to State. (Not probably.)

    God Forbid.

    If you are involved in a severe accident which necessitates Para-Medics, an Ambulance ride to the nearest Emergency Room, ... before the results of the X-rays are looked at, ... 25-Hundred Bucks ain't going to cover the tab.

    In Massachusetts, if you are under 25 ... and you go to the Insurance Co. to insure your new Plastic Wrapped Bullet ... and its over 599 cc's ... you need
    $2500 to get Assigned Risk Pool insurance.

    Some agencies, after reviewing your Automotive Driving History, attach a Side Letter to the Boilerplate.
    The Side Letter states the Insurance can be immediately cancelled if you are cited for Reckless Driving (Wheelie citation) or Speeding 25 miles per hour over the Posted Limit.

    My 17 broken bones and three weeks in the hospital from my wreck only cost me $12 out of pocket;

    But it's not an experience one would like to repeat.

    Check your State's statutory "overlap" on coverages; be it Massachusetts, Iowa or Michigan, they will be different.
