Can't find it in the Haynes or the XJCD. So does anyone know the torque setting for the intake boot bolts?

If I remember correctly I couldn't find this spec either and I just used the generic info supplied in the Yamaha manual.

Well I may have jumped the gun. I checked the other intakes that had not been loosened with my educated guess of 7.2 ftlbs. They didn't move so I torqued the loose one to 7.2. Same as the case blots of the same size.

If you are one of the lucky ones who can get all those Intake Manifold Cap Screws OUT -- Do yourself a favor ... take them out and replace them with HARDENED Caps Screws or Stainless Steel.

Either way ... put the new ones in with a HEAVY coating of NeverSeize and your troubles, there, are OVER!

Broken-off Intake Manifold Cap Screws and Exhaust Flange Studs are the combined Number One cause of heartache in XJ-World. Spend the short money NOW ... save the BIG BUCKS ... later!

They are in and with anti-sieze. They were removed by the machinist so that he could attach to the intake to hold the head steady while machining it. I knew he was going to do it and I warned him that they were notorious for breaking off in the head. But since he was doing it then he could fix it. He took two off and I installed them today. I could buy some stainless bolts but the ideal of removing them now is a little too risky. In other words , I'm skeerd!
