What will this mean as far as getting it to run? I paid 800 for this bike that was said to be running great until put into storage for 2 years. And I am almost done re assembling. I noticed also, I have a 110 main jet and 40 pilot jet.

So they're HSC32s? Not even 33s (which would be off a 750?) The jetting says "650" too though.

You're supposed to have Mikuni BS33s. I would look for a correct set of carbs; there will be slide/needle differences not just jetting. And since it's a 20-valve X-motor, I don't know if you could get the too-small Hitachis to work well enough to provide the performance that motor is capable of.

Well, thats upsetting. I am not sure if they are 650 or 750's for sure, but I just seen a diagram for the 650, and mine seems to match.

I actually got it started for the first time last night. I am impresses how it revs quick, but I discovered more issues. I have a stumble down low, and then it hangs before it drops to idle. Doesnt idle too bad. didnt need the choke to start either.

I can hear air sucking on intake manifold boot #1 and i felt around while it ran, and the air noise could be squelched if I applied pressure to part of the boot. I assume this is the main cause for problems.

Anything else to look at based on this activity?

is the boot cracked?. also the stumble + hang could be certainly related to the wrong carbs....

I am going to assume the boot is cracked, its on the underside of the boot where I can not see. I was also informed that not being synced would cause stumble and or hang

yea... it could be lots of stuff.... and Fitz is right.... if you do indeed have the wrong carbs, you aren't gonna get what you should out of that bike.

I assume I will not get max from this bike. At this point I may just want it to run ok and sell it. It should be some what desirable as it has the high backrest and highway bars with pegs. I know I will struggle to find nice mikuni carbs, there none really on ebay, and the ones that are look terrible.

Don't be dismayed by the look.

Filthy Carbs will clean-up nicely with a thorough cleaning.
