so i was cleaning out my garage getting ready for winter, and I was bottling up all of my used liquids - pretty much doing what Rick has mentioned before, straining them, then running them through a coffee filter. I did my PB Blaster and Hopps #9, but when I tried to do some other things (Marvel mystery oil) it wouldn't go through the coffee filter because it was too thick...

So a day or two later, the wife drags me to Michaels (a chain arts/craft store) and I wander over to the woodworking section. And i just happen to come across a very fine copper mesh that looks like it would make one hell of a strainer for thicker fluids.. It was 12$ for a package - but there was a lot of copper in there, however ever week we get a flyer for 50% off of 1 item, so I only paid 6$ for it. I brought it home, and cut out several pieces (to fit about 4 different funnels I had) and I still had a lot left over. and I tell you what - it worked great! I uesd a bigger strainer to catch the bigger parts, and then I fed it through this mesh; and it caught a lot of the junk.

I used a lot of marvel to soak some parts and to clean crap off of other things, and now I have a lot of it that I can reuse.

I attached pictures just in case anyone else was in the same boat.

i cleaned two sets of carbs over the summer, plus a ton of other parts; i used a lot of pb blaster spray and pbblaster from my gallon jug too. I took all of the run-off and used liquid and stored it in a container.

The 'straining for winter' thing, i was just cleaning my garage and putting things away for next year because i store a vehicle in there over the winter and can't work on my bike in there. - i strained my old used run-off pbblaster of containments so i could reuse it and not waste it. I'd rather capture all of the run-off from my spray (and what i used of my gallon to soak parts) and clean it up so i could use it again, instead of just dumping it and buying more. Its cheaper and better on the environment.

Reduce, reuse, recycle. Rinse and repeat. The best way to keep stuff from getting into the environment is to properly store and recycle it. Good on you for your extensive efforts jgb1503 (Josh), I thought I was pushing the envelope... You set the bar at a whole new level! Inspired to say the least. I just converted over from solvent base cleaners in my solvent tank to an aqueous cleaner. Doesn't work as well and I can't just pop open the hood and shoot brake cleaner in there anymore but my fire and fumes hazard is gone!

a tablespoon of oil can spread/travel and spoil wells within a 1/2 mile radius.
