long story short, im about to pick up a 1982 XJ750 seca
    23k on the clock
    rebuilt/overbored to 810cc 3k ago
mechanicly strong, just seams to need a good going over on the carbs and seems to have a bit of an oil leak from the head.
rough cosmeticly, but nothing a bit of tlc wont fix.

the main question I have at the moment, is what seats would I be able to use as a quick/cheap replacement for the one on there now? I intend to modify and recover the one that it comes with but as of now its upolstered with duct tape and I promised the guy that im buying it from that id get that taken care of before he ships out to the Marines on the 24th of august lol.

    Buy a fitted Seat Cover.
    Made to fit that Bike.

The hardest part of the Job is pulling-out the old staples.
Add a can of Upholstery Contact Adhesive and a small Bag of Clothes Pins and a HEAVY DUTY Staple Gun.

Strip what has to go off the old seat.
Fight with the staples. Get them all out.
Sand any sharp edges that will cut through the New Cover.
Add layers of Duct Tape to any Sharp edge that will wear through the new Cover around the edges.
Get the Seat ready for the New Cover.

Apply Upholstery Adhesive to keep the New Cover:

In place while its being stapled.
From shifting after the work is done. <--- !!!!

Be sure to apply adhesive to keep the Cover from moving-around after the job is done.

    Stretch it on TIGHT.
    Go Crazy with Clothes Pins.

Pull the Cover and FOLD the EDGE -- Under -- and hit it with a Staple.

IF THE EDGE IS TOO SHORT TO FOLD-UNDER ... DON'T STAPLE THROUGH A SINGLE LAYER OF THE COVER.

Use a Square-Inch Patch of the Old Cover to PREVENT the Staples from being PULLED-THROUGH a Single layer of Seat Cover.

Thanks for the advice. I may actualy try to make one myself. However, since I don't have an original seat cover, I need a pattern. Anyone know where I may be able to find one?
