It seems like rear view mirrors make custom bikes look weird. Factory mounted mirrors make them look like bugs and bar end mirrors make them look like dumb bugs. Using only one, makes them look like a bug that lost a fight. Has anyone ever seen a rearview camera? Is it plausible or practical?

There have been several show bikes built with rear-view cameras. I am fairly certain that they are not currently legal for road use on a motorcycle without also having at least one mirror.

I think I would rather have the bug look personally, the more electronics we use the harder the our batteries and generators have to work. You then also have to find a way to make sure that lens is continuously free of debris even while riding. Don't scratch the lens or lens cover because then it requires replacement. So don't use a gloved finger to clean it you need a clean soft cloth. My bug mirrors, just wipe and go with almost any cloth material or leather...

There are plenty of pro's to using old school mirrors but with the advance of technology it is now possible to equip a motorcycle with reliable, durable, and efficient accessories. It is probably another case of outdated regulation. Our government at work.

I can't think of anything more reliable, durable, and efficient for seeing behind you than a mirror (or turning your head).

To answer the question in your title: maybe; I have never heard anyone say that before. However, it is absolutely a possibility to do, I know 2 people that have them installed (in addition to the traditional mirrors). Personally, I shoot for less, not more, electronics on my vehicles, which is one reason I like older bikes. But maybe if I was better at working on them I would feel differently.
