Is it really necessary to re-jet for different mufflers?

The mufflers on my bike look like they slid on the pavement a few times and they have some pretty big dents in them. I would like to put aftermarket mufflers on it. Since I only plan to replace the mufflers and not the entire exhaust system, do I still need to re-jet the carbs?

If the mufflers are more or less restrictive and have different back pressure than the stock ones it probably is.
If they are pretty close to stock in flow characteristics then maybe not but there's no way to tell unless you try them and then check the mixture on a dyno with an exhaust gas analyzer.
When I installed a Supertrapp I had to go up a size on the pilot jets and main jets and drop the tapered needle a notch.
