    Good day guys!
Wow, just realized (when parts I ordered for the carbs didn't fit right) that my 84 xj1100 has xs1100 carburetor. Is this ok or is my xj's performance affected? It has a YICS engine. Its a bike I aquired recently... still trying to figure out everything about it. I knew it had xs wheels but didn't know about the xs carbs.
    Thanks for your input.

Have you got any pictures of the wheels and carbs?
The XJ1100 should have the "swirly" type spoke cast wheels, which are the same as the XS1100 Midnight Special. Other types of XS1100 are of the straight spoke type. They will interchange provided the correct spacers and rear brake brackets are used.
The carbs from the XS1100 Midnight Special will interchange with the XJ1100 and only require slight jet changes, if any, to work properly. Early XS1100 carbs had the drain screw on the bottom of the float bowl and the later ones had it on the lower side part, the same as the XJ1100. There are part numbers etched onto the side of the carb bodies, XJ1100 is 10M and XS1100 Midnight is 4H3.
It's hard to tell if performance would be affected until both sets of carbs are compared running. Somebody may come along with the definitive answer soon.

thank you for your input. from what i can read they are interchangeable. my original issue was that i was ordering mixture screw replacement (2 of mine were broken) for an xj1100. When the parts came they didnt fit. Its actually a guy from xj4ever that figured it out when I sent him pics. Turns out I was ordering the wrong parts.

Are those single-wall headers, or double wall?

From what I understand, Sebastien has the 1978-79 XS1100 carbs on his bike. Although theoretically he can get these to work on an XJ1100, there may be quite a few changes that are needed in terms of fuel/air jets, main jet needle, and the main jet (emulsion tube) in order to get it dialed in on the XJ1100 engine. Or, maybe not. I've never had to deal with this situation nor know of someone who has. The www.xs11.com website may be able to offer some suggestions and insights.

Yes, they do look like early XS1100 carbs, with the float bowl drain underneath the bowl.
Here's a link to what the mixture screws should be https://www.cmsnl.com/yamaha-xs1100-1978-usa_model8671/screwpilot_2a21492300/#.WxOL6PZFyUk
Also, double check that the old mixture screws tips haven't broken off and got stuck in the holes causing the new wrong screws not be able to enter the holes.
They can be a right pig to get out if they have. Plenty of advice over on www.xs11.com regarding the issue.

Pretty sure the MACs are (thin) single walls.

They are, and that explains the discoloration at the head flanges.
