Hello to all of you and nice to meet you!

I'm this close in buying this bike Yamaha xs250 special (maxim)

And i want to convert it into a cafe racer but i havent found not even one of that or the 400 in the internet...

My concern is if i can fit a descent tank like the Mojave
    [IMG]

The problem i think it'll be in the height between the top of the engine and to the frame's top near to the neck as indicated in the fotos below

Pink line indicates the "cafe style" horizontal "line" that the tank and seat will present according to plans in my mind. Meaning that i want the bottom of the tank to reach that pink line in order to get straight and horizontal with the frame's geometry and look good.

I wanna get as close as possible to this result with my convertion

And no i can't find any XV Virago's with monoshock in Greece

Could the above problem (or not) be the reason why aren't any maxim cafe racers out there?

P.S fotos are from a maxim 400 frame, but i heard they're the same

And guys... I really wanna buy this bike! PLEASE HELP

ciao my fellow cafe enthusiast, you are not going to get close to the pic you have of docs chops virago cafe for the simple reason it is a vtwin with a completely different frame setup, you have a horizontal twin in mind, what you should be seeking for inspiration are phtos of xs650 cafe bike. depending how handy you are the (benelli?) tank you have pictured will work with that 250 frame but some minor weld- fab would be required.

    look here for inspiration

My only concern is the gas tank and how would it look... I don't mind doing any welding to get it fit.. I just want to know it can be done and how would it look... I don't wanna do much welding to the frame at all..
And i know exactly how i want my bike to be..

certainly not trying to copy another bike.. Just some design lines that in my opinion are essential to a tasty look

You know, pulling the gas tank off of these bikes is ridiculously easy--pull the seat, and undo one bolt. Then slide it back.

Ask the owner if you can do that, so you can see the mount points and the frame and make a decision yourself.

My concern is in the height of the tank that will fit in a way that the bottom line of it will be just 10cm above from the motors head and the top of it will reach to cover most of the frame's backbone.
I don't mind to do some mods in order to fit to the mounting points. It's the total appearance of the tank and how well fits and looks when mounted

Good advice, if I was the owner I wouldn't be opposed to quickly yanking the tank for a prospective buyer. Bring your other tank with ya see how it looks/fits?
