Those of you who know me know I like bringing bikes back to nice condition. ONE of my projects over the last two years has been resurrecting a 99 Intruder 1500 that was a scrap yard wreck. Long story short, I took her for a short ride last evening! What a smooooooth ride. I'm still getting some air out of the front master cylinder, but it felt real good after bleeding it yet again this evening. I'll see how it feels tomorrow. I expect it will be registered, insured, and driven to work later this week if all goes well.

I'll post a pic in a couple days.

Well, like I said....it was a scrapyard wreck. A former student of mine works at an auto wreckyard. His uncle owns it. Every now and then I am out there for car parts and always ask if bikes have come in. Three years ago I was able to get a pair of 650 maxims to part out. Two years ago, he said he didn't have anything that I was looking for, all he had was a big old suzuki wreck that had come in. I figured a 70's GS--- whatever, but said I'll look at it anyway. Surprise. :) So I bought it, and spent two years looking for a frame, forks, fender, etc......fast forward--winter project was to put it all back together. I'll take a pic later today.

I also constantly look, watch, ask.....my students know I'm always looking for potential bikes so they keep me informed. I ask at every yardsale that I stop at, etc.............just a habit to ask.

Well, I'm sure there's more than just the two of us. While I really like the xj's, there's something about the xv's that I like, too. Just happens that I got a really good deal on what was left of this Intruder at the scrapyard when I was there, and the potential looked really attractive to me.

I rode it to work today, and back.....about 75 mi round trip, then to a bike nite and home. Stopped at a friends house to show him. Now, I'm just shy of 6'3", and he says..."man, that bike makes you look small!"

It sure rides nice, though. Torque monster......I found 60 in 2nd gear, I did see 75 in 3rd gear, and I did see the speedo climb while going up a pretty good hill in 5th gear. It'll be interesting learning just what it can do.

biggest thing for me right now is trying to learn the feel and sound of a big-bore v-twin with cobra shotguns on it. Bwaa-haaa-haaaa (evil laugh).

She runs nice! Two days to work and back, rides nice and smooth. I do have to replace a bent rotor, and maybe adjust the clutch yet. I found some really cool fender badges on ebay.....they read "Roadkill" and a couple of my Harley friends really got a kick out of that!

I'll post a better pic in my gallery this weekend.
