anyone order ACTUAL mufflers. if so, what kind????

the mufflers i just got are straight pipe with noise suppression. which isn't much better then straight pipe.

good thing they were cheap. cuz i'd hate to order there more expensive pair to end up with the same scenario.

and the reviews aren't much help. same reviews for ALL mufflers.

i ordered the 16" long 2" tapered end ones that look like sportster mufflers. yeah, they are basically straight pipes, but i knew that when i ordered them somebody mentioned that in the reviews. its probably why they're so cheap. i need to go to the store today and buy a ton of pot scrubbees to pack them with and hopefully quiet them down. i rode to work with them the other day and the sound is just obnoxious.

i don't mind the sound. it's the cops i'm worried about. and being a commercial driver these days with new rules. i really don't need a ticket on my federal record.

but if it comes to court. i'm just going to flat out tell the judge that it's the only safety device i have. with all the damn cars running motorcycles over these days. they obviously can't pay attention and look out. so maybe they can HEAR ME ROARRRRRRRRRRRRR.

I used to have a pair of the shorty mufflers from JC Whitney on my 750 Seca that didn't sound too bad. Of course they were quieter than straight pipes, but not like the stock mufflers. They have removable baffles inside them and can be used with or without, but you will want to keep them in there!
There are several places to order them from. Dennis Kirk, and Shade Tree are a few more. I just seen the add in Shade Tree catolog that has them for $19.99 each.

I'm curious, how do you keep the "scrubbies" from burning up
in the pipe. The temp ie 1500 or more and the scrubs are made
    of such fine metal?

Jc Whitney also sells the sound absorbing material you speak of for around $8.
