P.S. go look at your JC invoice so people know EXACTLY which mufflers you ordered :)

That invoice is long gone. I bought those over a year ago.

I will keep looking for it.

That sounds nice. So now that you've given us that one, how about a drive by?

Wow, those sound great, and look even better. I had been planning on doing the sportster muffler mod, but never liked how they stuck out and looked on others I've seen.

Does anyone know what the exact diameter size of the muffler needs to be to bolt-on easily? I assume it would be the same for this 82 maxim as my 82 seca.

    C-muck,
Those will more than likely come with reducers, so you should be able to make them fit without a problem.
I have a pair of the shorty mufflers that I used on mine for one riding season. They come with different size outlet on each end, so you just turn them around to make them fit. (they're made to fit both ways) They sound just like the ones in BillBs video.
The reason I changed mine for the Sporster mufflers was to keep the hot exhaust from blowing directly at the bottom of my saddlebags. The Sportster mufflers sound pretty close to the same as the shorty mufflers did.
Th JC Whitney mufflers are a good choice for those looking for a better sound and looks, and there are several styles to choose from.

    Hey Bill,

Is that seat re-covered? Where'd/how'd you get it done? I have two or three of the tall-back ones that need re-covering.

    Thanks,

    Dave Fox

PainterD is right, these did come with a insert as pictured here.
I only know the circumference of the pipes i used. 5 1/2".
The PO welded the megaphones on so I had to cut them off and weld the insert to the manifolds.
BTW, these were not sold as sportster mufflers from JCWhitney.
Actually sportster mufflers may sound different.

This seat was purchased from ebay. It was dry rotted and crispy when it landed on my door step from UPS.
I took it down to the upholstery shop and paid way too much to have it covered but I was desperate and he was fast.
