    Hello All:

My name is Carla and I have a 1983 Seca 550, a 1981 750 Virago (I think. I don't ride this bike. It's possessed.) and a 1987 1100 Virago. I really like my 550. My friends couldn't believe I rode with the big dawgs when I got it. I think it's because I didn't (don't) know anything about bikes and therefor didn't know I should back off the throttle.

As I stated, I don't ride the 750. I got it from my brother and gave it back to him. I don't know the history of that bike, but it gave me the creeps when I rode it.

Now I have my 1100 and can't get enough of it. My bikes are not near as nice as all of yalls. Heck......I just ride em. I'd like to take the 550 completely apart and "pimp my ride" so to speak, but I'm a little on the chicken side. Now that I am a member of this forum (Thanks BlueMaxim for the heads up), maybe I will get the nerve.

I am in Austin, Texas if anyone is from this way, give a shout out.

Welcome EmeraldPrincess. About time we had a few more females in here.

I also have a Seca 550 and they are a top little bike. Used to feel like a big bike until I got a couple of XS1100's. Now it feels like a scooter(very fast scooter) when I get back on it.

Should be compulsory for noobs to post pics of their bikes in their intro.

    Welcome!

When I first got my 750max I was hesitant to do any mods myself. I had all sorts of ideas but I had this constant unsure feeling about it...

Now i've shaved my seat and in about 8 hours I'll be installing my sexy new front end pieces (PLENTY of pics to follow).

You've found a helluva group of gearheads here, take advantage of the knowledge and mod ideas, we're all hear for the same reason :D

I just realized I typo'd TEXAS, oh well. I attempted to post a pic, but it was too big. I installed a new hard drive a month or so ago and never installed my photo editor. I didn't have a way to crop the pic. I will try to do that soon and post some pics. It doesn't look too bad in pics, but up close, it's rough.

I know I will tackle the 550 tear down one day. Probably very soon. I am itching to do it and how else will I learn anything? I'm praying someone will be from Austin or nearby and want to help me tinker.

Hired Goon....... if you live in Oz you must live in TEXAS. Will you work for dinner and laughs. :)

I have already seen a great deal of information I can and will use. This is so kewl. Like winning the lotto, only better. :)

Hmmm, Dinner and laughs....... Couldn't ask for better than that. Trouble is the required airfare cost would buy me a lot of dinners here.

But, the most satisfying work is work done yourself so with the resource of all these knowledgable people around here, DIY becomes very easy.

    Cheers

Well welcome aboard Carla! Glad you took my advise and tried our site. Great guys here with much experience and knowledge. Sometimes they even have the spare parts you need. We have on emember I know of who is in Austin. That would be WeAreZilla. Check out his bike in the user galleries. He could be invaluable help while you pimp out your ride. Don't forget the links page, there is some very helpful info there right at your keyboard finger tips and won't require waiting for an answer.

Thanks for all the hello's and encouraging words. No doubt this is an awesome group and site. I wish we could all actually get together, that would be soooooo cool.

I am considering a post to invite all the Austin and surrounding area members to go for a ride and maybe meet somewhere for a work-a-thon. :)

    Thanks again everyone!

My mom is from Lincoln and I have been to a little town called Prague, Ne., but me and the cold don't get along too well. I spent a summer there and it was hot as Hades during the day and cold as Anarctica at night. Yall must suffer from colds all summer.

I don't think I know anyone who owns an XJ, I'll have to look around more.
