Hiya Guys, Im fairly new here, and have a could of old XJ750 seca's Ive been playing round with, but I've just picked up what I think is one of the rarest XJ's around. I was visiting a friends dad and we got talking bikes and they old guy said he had this old yammy sitting in his shed. We checked her out and seemed reasonably tidy, so I managed to wangle a deal and picked her up for $150NZ about 75 quid to you poms. Got her home and done some research and it seems shes a 83 XJ750E-II has only done 44,000 kms.
Ive stripped the carbs and cleaned and reset and she fired straight up. A little noisy in the camchain, but i'm more than happy to give her a new one of those. Still original color and paint but getting pretty tatty. So i think Ive scored well, and I think this one is to be restored to her former glory, not chopped into a bobber as i originally intended.

Monty, nice find. I believe another listmember, who's in England IIRC, snagged on e of those earlier this year. Check some back forums.

    Welcome to the site !!

    "Only 44,000 KM" times .62 = 27,000 miles

Just a tip - it doesn't need a new cam chain. While it's apart, a valve lash check/adjust is on the top of your list, then check your tire date codes.

And good to hear it's not gunna be cut, considering it's uncommon. Go through the processes and enjoy it.

She has the potential to be a great little bike, Im so pleased i worked out what she was before I cut her up. I have a XJ750RL as well and thats what we thought this was till we had a closer look and checked out the numbers.
But dont worry she will be restored.

Top find! You will be pleased to know your frame is the same as a XJ900, you can check this easily because the rubber mountings inside the rear crankcase engine/frame mounts have been replaced by Yamaha with solid steel cylinders about an inch and a quarter in diameter. Under the right hand rear mount casting is a little short bolt to drain the gear case of swarf, later deleted. The lower crankcase half is the same as a 900 so you can do an engine/gears swap like I am in the process of researching! More importantly when the bottom rear ears of your fuel tank rust through an XJ900 Seca or 900F one can replace it. Great bike, a classic if there ever was one. My engine number is 29R...no other numbers just 29R ;) Frame is 29R too but with all the other numbers. Great looking bike, super cheap too, Well done!
Olde Bobbe in the UK...up to his elbows in cogs and bearing shells at the moment!

Great bike Montyzuma, I've just re-painted mine to original colours (same as yours) only 10000 made for the local Japanese market. I've got a bit of info on it if you need any help. Great buy!
