Working on my friends bike and I have been searching for this one and can't find the answer.
Does anyone know the valve clearence specs for a 1982 LTD 1000 Kawasaki? Intake and exhaust
Speedometer also does not work, it has a electronic speedo. The pickup was replaced because a previous mechanic put it on wrong and pulled the wires out. Could not fix it so we replaced it, still no speedo. Odometer still works so I think we might have a bad meter. Can't find any info on this either.
Any input would be a help.

Lew, there might be a sticker under the seat with the clearances...the 1100's had them. You're looking at .002-.006 for the clearences though. Be careful, that .002 is nearly CLOSED!!! Some guys swore by setting them a hair bigger but again, be careful because you don't want to strike the piston and bend a valve , or worse!!

    Can't help on the speedo...sorry.

I did not think to look under the seat, thanks Jeff. I found some specs but I'm not sure if they apply, it says .005 to .015 mm for intake and exhaust. That is for most 1000 Kawasakis.
I did get the speedo diagnosed. I need a new speedometer, the coil that moves the needle is broken inside the speedo case. I tried to repair it but the wire is too fine and it kept breaking.

Those numbers look familiar for the 1100....you sure that they are for the 1000? You prob know better then I but I'd hate for you to hurt something...
maybe check their forums...they prob have a "spec" section if you haven't found then stuck to the seat pan.
