I found someone in Kentucky wanting to get rid of a Seca 550 today.
All it cost was $50.00 in gas. Don't know what I will do with it yet.

WOW. How are the stock mufflers?

If the motor is viable, it's a resto for sure (Cafe bike since it's missing stuff?)

If the mill is trash, make some serious coin parting it out. If the mufflers aren't rusted out they're worth quite a bit alone. Let alone the tank (again, if solid.) But you of all people know that already.

Don't break it up if it has a hope of being restored or resto-fied.

That being said, how rusty are the head pipes? I need a clean #2...

Well 2&3 have rust thru the chrome, collector has surface rust, but the tail pipes look good. I see it's missing the starter, rectifier-regulator, counter shaft sprocket cover. I will rob parts from my good bike and try to get it to crank over to test the compression. Don't know how long the starter has been missing, so don't know what is growing in the crank case.

I've got a spare countershaft cover you can have if you decide to put it back together.

What're you thinking? Resurrection? You need another project? I'd love to see another Seca back on the street but that one's pretty bad except for some solid parts...

Considering it was basically free you could sink some benjamin's into it, have a really great bike and still come out on top if you decided to sell. Nice find.

For that price you have the scope to pump dollars in and not go into the hole, at least not too much into the hole if you do most of the work yourself. Good luck with restoration, hope its solid as that will make it a great runner.

Nice find! I would definitely try to get it back on the road if the engine sound. I would think you should be able to get it on the road for about $300.00 to $500.00 or so (tires, starter, regulator, etc). That makes for a pretty inexpensive bike. If cost is an issue for you, I may be interested in bartering some parts (starter, regulator, etc) from my parts bike for the fairing. But really, I myself would try to keep everything intact and invest the money into her. You are way ahead of the game.

For the time being I am going to keep the fairing guys. Did a valve adjust and have compression ranging 115 to 130. I think there may be rust on a valve seat of the lower cylinder. Going thru the carbs now, need some parts for that.
Changing out the old leaky rusty forks for FZ600 forks with dual brakes and 16" front tire. Cleaning the motor and frame as well.
