key loose in ignition

    is there any trick or any place i can get a kit of those rectangular filiments and springs for the ignition so it grabs the key rather then it being all loose and maybe falling out whilst riding is the xj750 lock inner working the same as this one where i got the idea to get springs n filiments from

    Check with a locksmith for springs that might be stronger. They may have the wafers he refers to, but I doubt it. You might be able to find a used one on Ebay.

    all good i rang the lock smith they said aprox $40 to fix i cant see i can do it cheaper even if i replaced the whole barrel wich then i would need a seperate key and i found some wafers not sure if there the rite ones but there 11 bucks each so i think i will just take it down the locksmiths

    Good luck. Worse case is that he re-keys the ignition lock and the new key won't fit the gas cap, and steering lock. If that's the case you'll simply have to carry two keys. Although, I know one fellow that had that situation and so he had one side of the key made to fit the ignition and the other side of the key to fit the gas cap.
