lack of performance

    Hi Guys,

    I have just purchased a 1993 xj600 and was wondering weather any of you guys could give me some advice on what sort of performance to expect from this bike as it seems to pull ok low down in the rev range but struggles like hell once you get it past about 6 thousand revs,i have managed to get it to about 90 but thats really acnning it and if you drop it into sixth it actually starts dropping in speed?

    I understand that these bikes are no new jap 600 bikes like my last two but this just doesn't seem right to me.

    I have already cleaned and balaced the carbs which did make a slight diference but not at the higher end of the rev range.

    Any advice would be much appreciated,

    I would look at the plugs and plug caps, the caps in particular probably not been changed in years.
