layed it down. wont run now

    as i was sliding down the road i heard the engine kept running for a second or two then spuddered and quit. could not get it to start. working on the side of the road this is what i found.

    both the little black plastic things are cracked and the lower one fell apart. my quistion is, is this a straight up swap? i realize the rotor in the middle has to remain in the same orientation. anything else i shoud pay attention to?

    yes it turns over fine. at one point i had it able to spudder. it would fire about once every other rev. nothing close enough to start

    Those "black plastic things" are the ignition pickups. It won't run with them broken.

    "Straight swap" with what? (GENERALLY speaking the answer would be yes.)

    The pick-up rotors are replacable, but are somewhat specific to different engines. Plus, used ones should be checked to make sure that they are within proper electrical resistance tolerances. We should have soe good used ones available, send a PM or an e-mail and make sure you let me know what model/year the engine is.
