lead additive ?

    Hi all,

    I was advised today that lead additive would be beneficial to my engine, because of the low octane rating of fuel supplies currently. I do ride hard, and this guy says my valves are in danger...

    does this add up ?

    he kinda lost me, I don't know anything about octane ratings

    NO! You were talking to an idiot. Stay away from them from now on.
    The engines were designed to run on lead free fuel. Lead will just foul the plugs.

    Search "octane" in the forum search. The same subject has been discussed quite a few times here. If I remember right "what octane" & "octane revisited" were two pretty good ones.

    so that's a 'no' then steve :wink: Will do the 'octane' search for my own info anyway.

    I did put 'lead additive' into the search engine - not much came up. 2.30am here, not firing on all four myself.

    As always guys, thanks for taking the time.
