On a 1981 650 XJ, oil is leaking out of the tack connection where it attaches to the motor. How do I stop leak?

Other than run out of oil

There are 2 seals for the piece that the cable connects to. You have to disconnect the tach cable and then pull the adapter out of the motor. The "adapter" then screws apart to get to the seals. I just replaced the ones on my 650 before I sold it. They were still available from Yamaha. About 5-6 bucks.

    look up Tach Gear.

You need to change the seal that is located under the connector.
