I did a top end overhaul on my engine and tried to reuse the old (ripped) valve cover gasket. Of course, it leaked. So I put a new one in, and did it right. Now upon start up I get a fast leak/spray of oil from the half moons (on where day and night would meet on the moon :), or where the rubber meets the gasket). Should I be putting some sealant on this area? Or is it possibly the rubber doing its job and shooting oil because of something I may have messed up in the head? Remember the overhaul that was done...
    Thanks, Lou

Lou did you change the donuts? They provide the pressure.

smear some RTV silicone (like ultra black) on the flat surface of the half-moon and let it cure... reinstall gasket and valve cover. It's possible that the half-moons may need to be replaced... Chacal prolly has them. If not, I've seen them on fleabay.

I'd like to know how you saw them as separate... those "half moons" are an integral part of the gasket.

Not with the pre YCIS model,it uses a paper gasket with seperate half-moon rubber inserts and allen head bolts around the peripheral of the rocker cover. Cheers, Murray

Edzachary. You need to put a little bead of sealant along the line where the edge of the half-moons meet the paper gasket. Not LOTS, just enough to "squish" into the small gap between the edges of the "moons" and the paper gasket. This assumes the half-moons are still reasonably soft and pliable.
