LED conversion question

1986 yx600 radian. Should I be wary of installing LED turn signals, headlight, and possibly tail light?

I converted all the lights on my girlfriends honda rebel to LEDs and it caused a wholeeee mess of problems. I had to install load resistors and buy a modern rectifier/regulator.

Is it known that LEDs cause problems on these bikes? And if so, what are there precautions or mods that will allow for a safe transition to LEDs?

should'nt be any problem converting any of the running lights to led.
the problems arise when you want to convert the turn signals, you have to replace the flasher relay ,to an electronic one, thereby loosing the self canceling feature.
otherwise ,as you say , you have to go down the load resistor route, or make up your own relay, there's a "how to" on here somewhere.

Do not use load resistors. They defeat the best reason for converting to LED lights: freeing up amps for accessories.

 

I still haven't seen an aftermarket LED turn signal that is as visible in bright sunlight as an incandescent one. I mean, they must exist; but I've never seen any.
