Would someone be kind enough to go over specifically what you need to do to use an LED tailight on an '83 xj 650?I am not good with electronics and wiring. Do you need resistors, specifically which ones, where do you put them...etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

That link is specificaly for the XJs that have a systems monitor. The 650 does not, so not all of that advice is relevant.

The only thing needed to use a LED taillight on a 650 or 550 is a LED taillight and the ability to read the instructions that come with it.

There are typicaly two types; The type that simply replaces the normal bulb (easiest to do), and the type that replaces the entire tailight and the taillight housing (anywhere betwen a little more work and a lot more work depending on whether or not you need to make physical modificaions to fit the housing to the bike).
