I have an '87 Radian. It has the multi-function turn signal relay, so I can't just go down to Pep Boys and but an electronic flasher unit.

The bike is still in progress and isn't running yet, but I can put power to the electrical system. The signals light but don't flash. I can here the relay buzzing.

    * Is there a way to run LED when you have a multi-function flasher relay?
    * I read where another Radian owner used LED turns on the rear and it worked with the stock unit. Would the relay behave differently if the bike was actually running?

    Those are INDIVIDUAL Dummy Loads.
    Each light gets one.
They will likely do the trick.

I think there is a System Load Device.

I also think you can MAKE Individual Dummy Loads by getting Resistors at Radio Shack.

Resistor dummy loads will get hot, even during intermittent use. If you can afford to get ones that are in finned aluminum housings, get them. I wouldn't place them in the headlight housing. If you're going the DYI route you'll need to know the current draw of your LED assemblies so you can figure the wattage. You'll need a resistor that makes up the difference between the Wattage the LED draws and what the stock bulb draws. By going that route you will negate any savings in current draw that you get from the switch to LEDs.

If you're just making the change for looks then adding dummy loads is the easier way to go.

If you want to free up more current so you can add accessories than you'll need to change to an electronic flasher, and a relay, in order to retain the self-canceling feature.

    Refrence the excellent write-up here : http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=14068.html
