    Al,

Make sure that no gas has gotten into your crank. Then turn choke off, hold throttle wide open, spin the starter a few seonds. Wait a full minute, twist it wide open again, and spin the starter again for 4-5 seconds......check to be sure that you don't have a REAL STRONG gas smell coming from the exhaust, then hit the starter with the throttle closed, no choke......if it doesn't start, or at least catch and try to start, pull the plugs and clean, dry and reinstall, then choke and start.....

Thats pretty much my drill for a flooded engine, hope it works for you.

    good luck,

    jeff

Did every thing you seid and still would not run, got a smell of petrol
from the exhaust but not even a spluter. you get some splutters when you put a tiny bit of petrol in each plug holes. It my be becouse theres not enought petrl in the tank(need to get some next time im at the pump.) Thanks for the tip thought!

Al, first off make sure you have fuel. When you have had plugs out, did you check to see if plugs were firing? Sometimes it's hard to get plugs to fire after they have gotten wet. So check plugs to see if they are firing between gap, if not or very weak, go ahead and replace them. It seems to me that these newer plugs dont recover from a soaking like the old plugs
    (of yesteryear) did.

Will be getting fuel soon the plugs are fine and are firing strong, like i said you get splutters as if its about to start when you put petrol in the plug holes.

Do yourself a favor it might not be the problem but pull the plugs again. replace them if it has spark outside with no compression they still might not spark with compression 2 strokes are known to do it so the same principle goes for that . Leave the plugs out over night and try it again tomorrow. That will give it time to completely dry out. If you have been cranking on it a while charge the battery also. If the battery is low under compression the starter will rob all the juice so the ignition won't work properly

I'd be thinking - hold off on everything until you've got some gas in the tank!

if petrol has gotten in the oil, You should replace it. Oil thined out by petrol does not lubricat very well.

You may have only "Wet Fowled" the Plugs.

    Pull the Spark Plugs.
    See if they are wet.

Let them dry or use a Hair Dryer.

Just a quick update been very busy lately, still have got a very low amount of juice in the tank hope to get some soon! Have dried, cleaned, and reset the gap on the plugs there are all getting a strong spark. Is there any way of telling if I have petrol in my engine? The plugs fire when turning over but no splutters, pops, or attempts to catch if I put some petrol in each plug hole it attempts to start but once the petrol is burned of it’s the same as before. I’m beginning to think its not the choke as it was only left on for five minutes, im hoping there’s no petrol in the oil as I changed the oil and filter about a month ago and its only been started up and revved twice since then not even put in to gear an ridden! Thanks for all your feed back so far
    Al

You can let it sit with the choke on indefinitely without causing a problem. Nothing happens if the engine isn't turning.

Your symptoms sound more like a fuel issue.

HOWEVER: Fuel fouled plugs that won't fire in the engine will often fire laying against the head.

Quit pouring fuel into the spark plug holes. Get enough in there to hydro lock one and you could damage the engine.

    Do the following:

    1) change oil if there is fuel in it.
1a) If there is fuel in the oil fix your carburetors
    2) put fuel in it
    3) put the fuel valve to "PRI" for 30 seconds, then back to "ON"
    4) start it
    5) if it didn't start in step 4 replace the spark plugs

If it's still not running you need to clean and adjust the carburetors.

Look at the sight window on the crankcase. If it's gone up there is a lot of fuel in it.

Your nose is a pretty good petrol detector. Take a sniff at the oil fill opening. If there is fuel in there you'll smell it.

Since you're supposed to fill until there is a slight bubble in the window, you check the window (level, on centerstand) and if there's no bubble, you're flodded.

At this point, I'd charge-up the battery real good, get a burly bloke to push, or find a hill, and try to bump-start it. You could even unplug the headlight for more juice.

Thanks will try that when i get home from school. No chance of a bump start thought to heavy even with my dad(burly bloke) pushing it down the nearist slope to my house and me on it would be a chalange!

    One TEST is:

    The Starting Fluid Test.

Remove the Seat and spray Starting Fluid into the Airbox Intake.
    Attempt to start the Bike.

    Engine runs for a moment.
Engine backfires or tries to start.
    Coughs, pops, tries to fire.

    Indicates: Fuel delivery related issue.

    Engine DOES NOT Start.
No pops, coughs or any sign of life.

    Indicates: Ignition (electrical) related issue.
