I just installed the spin on oil adapter and changed the oil but I think I messed up the amount of oil when I refilled. Following the directions for the filter I filled it about half way with oil before I screwed it on. Then being impatient I didn't double check the amounts needed and started filling the bike. I was sure I had seen 5.6 quarts, it was actually pints, so I dumped in 3 quarts thinking I had plenty of room to spare.

I checked the sight glass and it looked past full. I have not started it. I ran out of time so the bike is sitting in wait for the morning. I'm thinking tomorrow I should drain the oil and start again. Is this right? I'd rather buy a little more oil than mess my bike up.

You could drain it and refill with the oil you take out as long as you filter it first and use a clean container.

You're a good half a quart overfilled at this point; just don't fire it up.

Put it on the centerstand, partially open the drain plug, and dribble out a half a quart or so, and watch the sight glass.

You haven't hurt anything; if you fire it up you'll likely saturate the air filter.

Thanks for the help. Drained a bit and refilled watching the glass. Perfect level now and a new spin on adapter.
