Lingering issues.........

    Well just got done with valve shims and resetting timing, valves are now all in clearance and timing is set. Bike runs pretty good but still a couple of lingering problems.

    The #4 cylinder has a slight tap to it that i'm not sure was there before. When the bike is first started and put in first it kinda stumbles when first taking off and then gains accel. And now i can hear a little puff sound from # 3 sparkplug, it bottoms out but won't stop spinning.

    I tapped that sparkplug hole last year and don't think that would aid in anyway in this new situation. Thanks

    Actually ...

    It could all be related to you about ready to spit that Spark Plug.
    You are loosing compression in that hole and the Plug is being Punched and Yanked in the loose hole, 3,000 times per minute or more.

    If won't be too long before that Plug takes the shortcut out of the stripped spark plug hole.

    Get a HeliCoil in there and get that made right ... right quick.
    If you spit a Plug and there's NO Compression and Ignition to assist the Piston in its rapid change of direction from going up ... to ... back down ...

    the Piston ISN'T going to bother changing direction and try to get out of the top of the engine.

    Sometimes ... they make it.
    Other times ... the Connecting Rod breaks and the Engine stops after the loose portion left dangling to the Crankshaft beats the shidt out of everything -or- decides to take a shortcut out ... straight through the block.

    We'll work-out the hard to get-it-going after you have a Spark Plug that ain't poised to leave the confines of its spot in the Cylinder Head for a more spacious environment through the bottom of your fuel tank.

    Rick, I taped a spark hole plug and it is not a nice tight fit when I put the plug in, it feels as though the plug is just hanging on...

    What size HeliCoil do I need, where could I get it?

    I blew a plug out of my brother's Old 750 Bonnie.

    I didn't go the Helicoil Route (although they make several Spark Plug Hole Specific repair kits)

    I did a "Solid Kit"

    Comes with the Tap, Tool and Handle.
    Tap the hole with the Tape Greased-up good.
    Cut the threads for the insert.
    Grease the tap so nothing gets in the hole.
    Clean.
    Conductive adhesive.
    Set the solid in there.

    Park the Bike with the Intake Valve open and you can do a shop-vac insurance vacuum-out

    Where could I get a solid kit? And how would I know if the bike is parked with the intake valve open?

    Auto Parts Store.

    You do the work with the Bike at TDC.
    Then, you just move the Timing rotor a few degrees beyond TDC and you'll open a Valve to allow some air to enter the closed state of the the Cylinder at TDC.

    If you grease the Tap ... all the swarf will collect in the grease between the cutters amd stay trapped there until the tap is cleaned-out.
