Locked gas cap, no key

    How do I get the gas cap open on a yamaha seca fuel tank when I have no key for that particular lock? Thanks, Jack

    Use a 7/16" drill bit, drill the core out. Drill down about 3/4" or so, then use a good sized screwdriver to turn the core. Then you'll need to get a replacement assembly for the cap, or get another cap w/ good key.

    For a less destructive option, you could try a locksmith. I was surprised one time when they were able to identify a motorcycle key I had, knew the blank that was needed, and could easily make a duplicate.

    They're fairly low-tech locking mechanisms, try a small scratch awl in
    order to press the tumblers into place, then a small blade to rotate the cylinder.
