I've been looking to replace a couple of bikes from my youth lately.

    A XS400RJ and a XJ550RJ , both were 1982 Seca models, but I'd consider other years.

Not looking for any basket cases at this point, but I'm not afraid of doing a little bit of work.

We live in central Florida, so the closer the better, but will travel for the right bike.

    Thanks,
    John

Those are SOHC versions, the 400 Seca was the DOHC model. And I'm not looking for any sort of "Special" or Maxim from any year.

    Specifically either of these:
    - 1982 XS400RJ
    - 1983 XS400RK
    - 1981 XJ550RH
    - 1982 XJ550RJ
    - 1983 XJ550RK

That's the right 400 cc DOHC motor in the wrong chassis.

    This is a 1982 Seca 400.

    This is a 1981 Seca 550.

Gee....I only have TWO of them. Both are the '82 xs400rj. My good one is gorgeous...almost as clean as the pic you showed. My second one is a long-term rehab. It's about halfway there

The XS400 models look a little odd w/o the frame tube "cradle around the front/bottom of the engine..........but I understand they are nice bikes (never had one of them myself).

I'm actually looking for the XS400R for my wife. An '82 XJ550RJ was my first new street bike, so I'd like to replace it.

I currently own a XJ900RK and a XJ650RJ, along with a dozen or so others.
