So, I bought a set of the MAC 4 into 2 taper tips off ebay. They got here today and, maybe I'm just special, but these don't seem to want to fit properly. The header pipes have a flange (if that is what you call it. The ends flare out) on the end of the pipe. This lip is nothing like the original header pipes. The originals just slid right into their appropriate exhaust port holes and flush up against the gasket. These lips on the headers are pretty much making it impossible to even fit them up to the holes, they keep hitting the base of the studs. What bothers me more is that even if they get past the stud bases, they are still too large to fit inside the exhaust ports.

Am I missing something? I made sure to order the correct pipes for my bike. I haven't ordered new exhaust gaskets yet (the plan is to buy them on Friday), but I figured I'd be safe just making sure these fit.

    Pics to follow...

is there a number on the pipes you could look up on the mac site?
can you hold the pipes off to the side of the bike and try to get one pipe into one port. like #4 pipe to go into #1 port, just to see if they can fit in.
i don't remember my mac 4/1 pipe having a flange like that

Still no luck. The pic may explain what I meant about the base of the studs plus the lip keeping this set from locking up like it is supposed to. If this lip wasn't here I imagine they would fit.

Also, there is no part number stamped in any place visible on the entire system.

That is what I figured. Damn the man...

Well, guess I'll have to start that return process.

Thanks for verifying I'm not a complete dolt.

I guess I'm off to find another set... /facepalm
