HI Y'ALL
I'm sure this is a big debate on here so I thought I would share my results with converting my xj650 from stock air box to pod filters
As many of you know I decided to convert my stock maxim to a more street tracker or café style bike so that being said the air box had to go
After trying to mount pod directly to the carbs and still just not achieving the performance I would have expected adjusting and re-adjusting the carbs so on and so on the bike still lacked in performance muck like having no filters on bare carbs
I remember having a go kart as a kid with a alcohol motor and it needed a longer intake manifold to run properly
so I turned to my box of spare parts and left overs from many different bike and in there I found a set of 54mm pods for a 1976 CB750 Honda
Obveiously they wont fit. So I took the rubber mouth piece out of them and I took the stock Yammy intake manifolds and after a lil lube was able to fit and seat into the groove the air box end of the manifold to the pods.
1 and 4 are pointed outward to clear the frame rail and 2 and 3 are curved down to clear as well. After some very minor butterfly and Idile adjustments this set up works very well and the bike really moves Oh I should ad that I do also have a 4n2 one header as well
Her is a pic of the bike with the pods on it[IMG][/img]
