Massachusetts Carb Clinic + Tune & Tweak Weekend

    August 19th & 20th.

Saturday: 8:00 AM - 'til - 7:00 PM ... followed by social, poker, BlockBuster Night.
Sunday: 9:00 AM - 'til - 5:00 PM ... followed by Closing Ceremonies and Photo's.
Bring 3 Cans of Carb Cleaner and whatever other supplies you need.
Notebook - Camera - Thinking Cap - Patience - etc.
    My house, in-door, "Camping" (We're remodeling -- there's plenty of room for "Sleeping-bagger's in a totally-vacant, hard-wood floored spare bedroom or cement-floored, soon-to-be, family-room.
    Bathroom, shower and tub. Laundry.
    Nearby motels.
We'll be learning how to completely strip-down, superbly clean and race-prepare Mikuni and Hitachi carbs. Take valve adjustment readings. Compression tests. We will do some maintenance work for those needing brake-pads, brake system flushes and bleeding and clutch adjustments.

Ride-in's will have complete use of everything in my tool-boxes. I'm very well prepared for this.
Several sets of spare (off-bike) carbs for you to clean for me!!!
    YICS tool.
    MotionPro Carb-sticks (Mercury)
Factory shim bucket tool. (BYO shims)
    Factory 900 manual.
    Haynes Inline-Fours Manual.

This adventure is TOTALLY HANDS-ON. If there's something we need to do to your bike ... YOU will be doing it! I will have-your-back!

I hope this works-out. It just might be a fun and informative day!

Mark your calendars. Here we GO!

I will ride to my house from the intersection of Mass Rt. 495 & Rt 3.
I'll get the distances and landmarks to my place and post them prior to the event.

    Needed:

A few good men. Come-on, you New England guys. Get psyched for this Carb Clinic. At the very least ... you'll spend a weekend learning how to dive-in to the rack -- CLEAN and CLEAN-TUNE your carbs. Cleaned carbs are joy to have on your bike and zoom-around -- staying-up with the pack, accelerating by the un-clean and not-tuned-up "Bogies"

My wife will be away. That free's-up some "Comfort" for the wife or girlfriend. Shopping and movies, nearby, if they get bored. Have deck, have grill, have small-screen TV, home-theater Dolby Surround, card table and a big cooler to keep beverages nice and chilled. Maybe "Carb Clinic is too sterile. How about if we call it a real New England -- "Cob Pah-dee"

    Who's coming???

If it was logistically possible I'd be there...

That would be one helluva ride for a 2 day stay :p

I think if you ask the XJ-owners mailing list you would get a few more hits

Re: Massachusetts Carb Clinic + Tune & Tweak Weekend!

Man I wish I could make it. I'm going to be up there the weekend before (Aug 12-13th). I'd consider coming up for a second time but my GF and I are moving and that just isn't going to fly :(
Anybody know of something like this happening in the NYC area? And/or a good mechanic?

    Scott

I don't think I have enough lead time to alert The Discovery Channel. Maybe Comedy Central would be interested??? I don't know. I was thinking about making a DVD. Maybe this Winter, if I don't have too much sno-blower duty, I could start working on the video.

Regrettably, even though my bike desperately needs something like this and I would love to meet other riders from the Bay State, I won't be able to attend. As I'm still waiting on the Registry for a duplicate title so I can register it, I was thinking of trucking it up, but I have some family obligations that I doubt I'll be able to get out of.
