I know that some SECAs (750?) have a front master cylinder somewhere by the headlight bucket.

Is it possible to move my master cylinder from the bars to somewhere else on my frame? If so, how? I'm assuming I won't be able to reuse the original master cylinder. My only real concern is how I would operate it as the brake level needs to press in to it...

You might try posting this in the Sell, Trade, Swap, Wanted section?
I bet there are more than a few 750 master cylinders out there that you could get CHEEP.

I gave up on rebuilding mine after spraying, blowing, poking and soaking.

How about a master cylinder for a rear disk?
Mounted on the frame with a LONG cable and a LONG brake line.

mestnii, from what i know, yes, the mc is behind the lights... then it goes into a splitter, you can get a mc (zookie says ltz400 front mc)and mount it on the bars and run a hose to the splittermounting on the bars will be interesting... and you'll lose the brake like switch fo be sure to brake with your foot too

Shooter, you read it backwards. He has a handlebar mounted MC and wants to switch to a SECA 750 style remote MC. Why, I don't know.

I would think that would be a somewhat involved endeavor. Not just because remote mounted master cylinders are relatively rare (and a pain to deal with), but because you're probably also need to fab a mounting bracket for it. As an owner of one of the remote MC bikes I can say that there's a reason you don't see this setup often: it wasn't a good idea. If I were you, I'd stick with the stock handlebar-mounted setup.

If you really really want to switch it around, see if you can buy the whole setup (MC, handlebar lever, cable, etc, from someone parting out a SECA 750). If you're really into fabrication, though, you might look at adapting the rear MC off of a rear-disc bike. I just compared the rear master cylinder on my '83 GPz to the front one on the SECA, and they're actually pretty similar, other than the reservoir and the cable lever on the SECA.

    Cheers,
    Paul

Yea, but I really, REALLY want clean handlebars. I want them to look exactly like on a bicycle, just two levers.

I'm pretty sure I still have the whole setup from my Seca. The MC works perfectly. I have the perch and everything... You would have to figure out how to mount the MC and the splitter though. PM me if you're interested.
