I think you should just Unload the Twin Shock - Shaftie set-up for a Seca II.

Then you can just start doing straight customization rather than having to get involved designing and engineering a Mono-shock set-up for a Bike designed to employ twin shocks on the back-end of a soft-tail.

There isn't enough sturdy Frame Foundation on the Top-side of the Frame and the stock Trailing Arm isn't solid.
Where the Shock would mount on the Training Arm ... the Swing is hallow.
Where the Shock should mount on the Swing ... there isn't room for the Geometry.
You'll have to strengthen the Swing Arm
    Lengthen it
    Reinforce it.
Change the Final Drive to suit

And, ... wind-up with a Bike that might not Roll Straight, anyway.

I think you should abandon the idea of converting the Max and just buy a Bike with a Mono-shock Tail.
You'll be way ahead of the game.

here are a couple of rough drawings of what i would like to do
in the hand drawn picture the pencil is what is stock and the blue is what i want to make
i realize fabrication will be necassary but i want to know if anybody has measurments of a 920 virago monoshock because it was designed to be installed at this angle and would work well but i need to know if it would fit the way i wanna run it.

    Brent,
You wil need a larger bore master cylinder for the dual calipers. The stock single brake master cylinder will probably not work so good.
I'm in the process of looking at master cylinders on Ebay now to find a donor for mine also. I never liked the cable activated master cylinder that comes stock on the Secas. They're weak and a poor design in my book.

In this case with respect to mods, I believe Rick is once again on the money. It's more of a safety issue. It wouldn't be fun to be cruising down the highway and having the rear end break off...it would likely cause me to ease my bowels, and more.
