Maybe I'm used to newer bikes but I find the front brakes on my Maim X are pretty poor.
I have braided brake lines and callipers work ok, pistons are free.

Is there any sort of upgrade to another type of calliper??

    Mike.

Have you REBUILT the calipers and master cylinder; as in, new seals, checked the bores, etc., etc.? New pads?

The original caliper and master cylinder seals had a recommended life span of FOUR years. If yours are original, you need to rebuild them.

+1 on what Fitz asked, did you just upgrade to braided and bleed? What's the lever feel like, solid, spongy or does it come all the way to the bar? New pads or old ones?
The only brake upgrade I know of other than all new rebuild and braided lines is to put Radian disks on as they are slotted and would run cooler.

Have rebuilt Callipers and fitted new pads, bled brakes thoroughly, lever feels good.

Will look at master cylinder as per Fitz's comment.
Not good riding weather over here at the moment, cold and wet, so taking my time with bike to get things right.

    Thanks to you all
