I was having problems previously with the fan fuse blowing every time i rode for more than about twenty minutes, so i, for the time being, disconnected the fan from the wire off of the thermostat switch, and ran power through a handlebar switch i had(aftermarket bar switches).... i was looking today and saw that on the thermostat housing there is a green wire with a red stripe that is fried and the post it should connect to is awol.... like looks cooked and is gone. is this just the signal wire for the fan switch?

My guess is the connection was not tight enough there causing arcing wich creats excessive current and blows the fuse and . If there is enough metal left on the post you can solder the wire back on give your other female terminal a squeez with some pliers to tighten it up before you slide it on the post.

Patience, Grasshopper. Give us some time to look it up.

According to my factory manual, The green/red wire runs from the temp gauge, through a connector (probably in the headlight bucket) to the thermo unit, and from there to ground. It has nothing to do with the fan.

The thermo switch is what turns the fan on and off, and has Brown and Blue wires going to it.

(Two temperature sensors in this thing? Who knew?)
