    I discovered that the previous owner had damaged the #1 (clutch side) carb and tried to replace it but put in a BS36 instead of a BS35. Obviously, that's not going to work.

    All I need is the #1 but will consider anything you've got if they are interchangeable.

    We should have a good used carb body. All the later ('85-up) XJ900's used BS36 carbs; they should fit and with some mods to the jetting can be pressed into service.
