I can't find a replacement for the rubber end of the enrichment valves. would I have to replace the entire valve if the rubber end is hard and cracked? luckily mine are pliable and will return to service. i was just asking because I have not seen any mention of these in any of my research.

I believe you have to replace the entire plunger. (Or did I miss something, which is entirely possible.)

OK, now this is just for you fellow Mikuni guys (shhh) the various rubber bits and other "wear" parts seem to survive sitting better than their Hitachi counterparts. BUT: Mikunis require (and reward) precision. Side by side, they're a more precise instrument than the Hitachis (sorry, I only call 'em like I own 'em.)

Get a rack of Mikunis set up correctly and you can pretty much forget them (except for the occasional cleaning) for at least 10K miles or more. But you gotta get them right to begin with.

    Did you see this? http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=31061.html

One more thing. About the rubber boots on the top of those plungers. Until recently, they were "unobtainium." Len now carries them. If the boots are cracked or don't seal correctly around the top of the plunger, there is a potential for a phantom vacuum leak, because they only seal fuel flow positively at the bottom. The hole the plunger itself is flopping around in has a direct passage to the intake flow, and is only sealed by the boot and how tightly the plunger fits (not.) Inspect the boots carefully; we now have the luxury of being able to replace them if necessary.

like I said in my op. they are serviceable and will go back in. I just traded all the bits I need for the carb rebuild for the front fairing I had advertised. the enrichment boots are on the list of goodies I got from len.
