So, the original Hitachi HSC33 carbs are worn out on the choke shaft bushing.
That with the too thick valve clearanses cause very troublesome startup and adjusting difficulties, whole last summer.

Now we have Yamaha XJ900RK Mikuni model BS35 carbs what we bought from ebay before Christmas. We checked them through, soda blasted, cleaned and changed some seals. Now its time to install, but I thought I ask first if anyone else has do a similar swap?

Should I install and try out, or make any adjustments to the first?
The jets in Mikunis are smaller but the throats bigger, I have no idea whether the mixture to be lean or rich

Airfilter is K&N's replacement air filter, and the duct on top of the air filter housing seems to be missing.

    Mikuni BS35
    Main fuel jet #102.5
    Pilot fuel jet #37.5
    Main air jet #45

    Hitachi HSC33
    Main fuel jet #107
    Pilot fuel jet #36.5
    Main air jet #70

Here is still snow on ground but in Southern Finland some already are driving motorcycles. 8)

If you do get them on there i am sure its gonna run really rich especially at idle 175cc sucking on each carb vs 213 cc. How are you going to get them into your intakes ? I am not even sure if the spacing is the same on the 900.

That is maybe little adjustable with needle high?

Spacing with carbs -> intakes look like same. We have compared carbs with motor, and with original hitachi carbs. Intakes must enlarge that about 2mm that the carbs fit, but I think the wall thickness even after that is enough. I'am more worried about need of adjustment. Even there isn't mutch parts what have to take off, but it's not still fun task to do several times in a row.
