mikuni pilot jet mixture screws

    does anybody know where the pilot jet mixture screws are located on a 81 xj550r with mikuni carbs, the bike is running rich from idle to about 4k, thanks

    The pilot screws are located just in frount of the hats on the top of the carbs. If they have not been messed with there will be cover cap hiding the screws. Carefully remove the caps. Always use a tight fitting screwdriver on the jets. File, grind, and chew a driver so there is absolutely no play on the jet. These are made of soft brass and are easily stripped. Welcome to the form from a fellow 550 owner.
