Its been well below freezing here for weeks.
I have ridden 90 miles when the roads were dry.
Filled up Sunday with almost exactly 2 gallons for a whopping 45 mpg.

I usually get 38-40 mpg so my guess is that the increased air density is responsible for the increased mpgs? Comments?

I also assume that the engine runs leaner as a side result.
Any danger of holing a piston due to the increased lean condition?

I drive a '74 VW "Thing". I've also noticed lower fuel economy and minor loss of power as the mixture becomes leaner. I think there's quite a difference between 75F and 15F, 20F, and 25F degrees.

I've never ridden my bike in warmer weather so I can't compare directly with you. I figured the VW was a good comparison because it's a carb'd, aircooled engine of similar size.

I'm in MD with you dude. We should meet up when it gets warmer. I'd like to see your carb synching bottles and other good stuff you do.

We can do a carb clinic at my house when the weather breaks.
Def we can go ride some time.
There is a guy that I met in the MSF class that has a 1200cc BMW and he wants to ride when the weather warms up. His bike is in VA during the winter.
