Mirror plugs??

    If I'm removing the stock mirrors, how can I plug the hole that the stock mirrors were screwed into?? Anybody got a good idea for that?

    On my 82 XJ650LJ they have plugs in them as the mirrors are mounted on the fairing. They are shown on the front master cylinder parts diagram as #14, a plug I believe.

    Go to Ace or any hardware store they have a box of different size plugs to choose from.

    Hit an AutoBody Parts Supply Store.

    They have a display with all different sized "Blanking Buttons"

    Mostly used for filling holes and bolt openings in and around the body of a car and on the firewall ... they come in sizes from Tiny to Huge.

    One problem.
    You can't waltz-in and tell the guy you just want to buy two.
    They come in boxes of 10

    So, you have 8 left-over to use elsewhere or sell to you buddies.

    I made some plugs on the lathe out of black delrin that fit in there nice and snug.

    I believe someone on here (maybe another forum...) ground them off smooth and filled what was left.
    Wish I had a link...

    But yeah, if you don't want to go too drastic you could get some plugs. I've seen em with longer studs for a helmet rack before.
