This is the latest version. Will he leave it alone and just ride the dam thing?
Stay tuned for more Moto Madness. FZR600 front end.

Speaking as a fellow 550 Seca owner, and we're not on the track. I'd uncover the tach so you can keep track of the idle. (OK, so it's a 600. I'd still wanna know.)

The FZ front end is cool. But you've raced stock-class 550 Secas; is the dual front disc REALLY necessary if you improve the single disc stock brake? (Yes I know it looks cool, we covered that.)

Question 2: I'm running a 4.00-18 rear and a 3.50-19 front (Avons) on a stock 550 Seca with Progressive suspension front and rear; and for the street, I can't imagine a more "flickable" bike. Is it being THAT MUCH "quicker" handling an advantage on the street? It seems like it would be more 'work' to ride, is it worth it? Isn't the front end noticeably heavier, especially at low speeds?

I'm asking because once I upgraded my single disc with modern (floating rotor) technology, I gave up on a dual-disc conversion. I could no longer see an advantage to be gained vs. the added unsprung weight.

My Seca550 race bike has FZ600 forks and CBR600F 17" wheels on it front and back. I think for street use the dual disks are overkill and a bug single floating disk with a 4 piston caliper is probably adequate for racing, too. I used the parts that are on it because I had them from other race bikes.

The 17" wheels are needed for the track to get race compound tires. The Avon AM22 and 23 are good and worked well when I had 18" on it, but not as good as race compound 17". I also like the lighter handling and feel from the 17" front on the track. On the street, I don't think I could fault the original wheels with good street tires. If somebody is riding hard enough on the street to need better, they are dangerous and stupid.

I only changed things for racing and because I can't resist tinkering with stuff.
