My 81 xj 650 bobber

my bobber so far. Still getting 6 inch narrow z bars in the mail with turn signals and cone filters. Thinking about removing the front fender too.

What do you guys think? I'm open to suggestions and constructive criticism.
I want to get straight pipes on them too.

 

i like it man. It has a lot of possibilities..... The z bars will look good and the straight pipes will be good too. I'm looking forward to see your progress. Keep us updated. What are your plans for the rear fender???

 

i might try to take the front fender and weld it to the back but it might be too skinny. I'm not sure how i'm going about the rear fender, but we'll see what happens

 

Nice I'm trying to do a similar thing to my xj 650. The issue i'm having is what to do about the rear guard (fender - I'm in Australia ) and how to attach the tail lights. I've cut the frame off just past the rear shocks and are just about to paint an od tear drop fuel tank. I got an old seat from a Honda "Step Through" 90. Bit like a vespa - which looked a bit dorky until I trimmed the top down to about an inch and had it recovered.

What tank is that? Also how did you go about mounting it?

 

as far as the rear fender issues go, try breaking down the fender assembly and just using the chrome piece , roll it forward. check my gallery, you will see what I mean.

 

How did you get rid of the gauges? Iv been trying to do this but there are so many wires..

1. If your building a bobber, I think the front fender needs to go.
2. I think it looks like shit when people put the front fender in place of the rear. It doesn't even fit.
3. Yes on straight pipes, z bars will look cool, the tank looks cool too
