sorry for not keeping you all posted, but i've been busy doing work on my 650 maxim over the past few month. some of you may remember my headlight upgrade

and i did the progressive shock upgrade and fork rebuild. most of my other stuff has been seen before so i decided not to bore everyone then.

cut the pipes down to just the downpipes and wrapped them with header wrap

then i did the tires. put on a white wall on the rear

had some fun over the winter and redid the the tank. i never had the side emblems so i smoothed out the sides and a dent or two on the tank.

    aircraft remover

after the second round of aircraft remover

    primer

    and then some new paint
    [IMG]

did the paint in my buddies garage. started at 7 pm ended at 5 am and 28 degrees. yeah not ideal for spraying paint i know. but it's what i had to work with. the clear coat ended up orange pealing on me real bad. i'm not sure how i feel about the paint now. with the shape of the tank it kinda came out looking like a giant fishing lure.

i got talking with some friends at work about what i wanted to so with the bike and mentioned how good they looked hardtailed and they talked me into doing it

    new fender and tail lights

i currently have it completely stripped down again and i'm working on thinning out the wiring harness. but i've hit a small snag with the battery box. i'm looking for some advice from those who have already finished this? anyone? anyone?

then one more small snag with the intake manifolds between the carbs and the jugs... i think... i might have snapped a bolt or three...

i have enough sticking out to get vice grips on but nothing i've done can get them loose. i successfully stripped the threads off one trying to remove it. but days and days of WD40 and a propane torch and nothing doing. i'm open for suggestions

i like the fishing lure concept - makes me wonder if someone's already made a bobber bobber?
