My clutch EXPLODED

    I installed a new clutch in a friends bike (82 750 maxim ) All new yamaha
    factory friction disk, clutch plates and gasket.
    Followed the factory manual upon installation, every thing went together great
    Clutch adjusted out as per manual and the clutch performed flawlessly for 30 miles AND THEN! Upon shifting down for a turn the clutch locked up at 30 mph and the rear wheel locked also, I managed to keep the bike upright.
    Upon disassembly the cover,pressure plate,springs,bolts,clutch boss were
    destroyed.

    I have no history on the bike, other than my friend thought he needed a new
    clutch.
    Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated

    Sounds as if something may have fallen into the clutch area when you had it apart. I have an extra clutch out of a 1982 XJ 650 Maxim (with less than 5,000 miles) that you can have cheap. Pm me if interested.
